    Herb's Description

    Achillea millefolium Linn. is a herb, 1-3 ft long, is evergreen, errect, and unbranched, which blooms from early summer to early fall. Pleasantly aromatic. It prefers full sun, but will tolerate being partly shaded. Yarrow is drought tolerant and is generally resistant to insects and disease, but may suffer from mildew or rust. Yarrow spreads quickly from a system of shallow roots and also from seed and can be quite invasive. There are hundreds of cultivars that have been created by crossing and backcrossing among different species of Achillea.
    Achillea millefolium Linn.'s Flowers, pure white, pink, red, orange red in color, size is usually quarter inch in diameter. Flowers appear in flat-topped clusters. They are small, and are composed of four to six, but usually five, ray flowers. The ray flowers encircle lots of little disk flowers. Plant drying before fading makes it useful for floral arrangements.

    Occurence: It is native of Europe , Western Asia. It occurs in Himalayas, Kashmir.. Achillea lanulosa grows in snow fields into sunny, rocky out crops and down into the creeks from middle elevations to 8000 feet. Common yarrow is a cosmopolitan weed. Today it grows in temperate regions worldwide. In the United States it occurs in disturbed areas, road shoulders, meadows and fields. In Europe, yarrow is a ubiquitous weed. Also common in many parts of Himalayas (3500-12000 ft).
